INSIDE DORVAL

Farm. Family. Dorval.

 Welcome to Dorval Estate.

Proudly owned and operated by Andrew and Rebecca Kerr.

The name Dorval is rooted in heritage and the long arc of wine history — and yes, we’re deeply passionate about what we do. We’re not here for trends, gimmicks, or whatever the algorithm says is popular today. We’re here to grow. To create. To steward the land. We craft organic luxury wine and olive oil, and we farm every inch of soil that brings them to life.

The estate began in 2007, when Swiss viticulturist Ralph Fasi planted five acres of Petit Sirah, Charbono, and Cabernet Franc. In 2023, we stepped into this story with open hands and big vision, expanding the vineyard to 23 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon clones, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, Teroldego, Chardonnay, Viognier, Merlot, Malbec, and three olive cultivars: Arbequina, Koroneiki, and Frantoio.

Our own story began in the foothills of California’s San Joaquin Valley, shaped by the echoes of our family’s agricultural roots in Dorval, Montréal. Those legacies — heritage, courage, and the willingness to build something from nothing — guide everything we do.

As first-generation farmers, we chose a path that many wouldn’t. But that’s exactly why we took it. In a world obsessed with perfection and quick wins, we believe in patience, in possibility, and in the kind of change that comes only from rolling up your sleeves and daring to create something timeless. We’re committed to protecting our foothill landscape, honoring the wildlife that depends on it, and nurturing biodiversity through regenerative farming. Every vine, every tree, every choice we make is an investment in the future — for our land, our community, and our children.

And yes — we make mistakes. We’re not automated or airbrushed, and we don’t aspire to be. We’re the sleep-deprived, dirt-covered kind of people who believe imperfection is where authenticity lives. If a label’s a touch crooked or your pour a bit generous, that simply means you’ve experienced Dorval the way it’s meant to be felt: human, heartfelt, and real.

Visiting Dorval is a breath of fresh air from a world that often feels over-edited and over-scheduled. We exist for the enthusiasts, the seekers, the wanderers who want not just wine, but meaning — inspiring views, genuine community, and a connection that goes deeper than the glass.

Dorval is for those who understand that wine is more than a beverage. It’s a conversation with the land. A tribute to the past. A reminder that life is richer, fuller, and more beautiful when it’s a little bit off-center. Here, you’ll feel a whisper of old-world charm, a hint of Tuscany, and more than a few moments of unexpected laughter.

Our membership celebrates craft, community, and the human spirit.

Whether you’re savoring a glass with the Sierra Nevada's in view or finding quiet among the vines, Dorval invites you into something grounded, honest, and full of heart.

Every bottle we make carries the voice of the land — and maybe a little wink from us.
Join us. Slow down. Grow roots. Be inspired. Or simply breathe.  We’ll be here, farming — and believing in what’s possible.

A Legacy of Tenacity, Passion and Self Determination

Our Story

A Legacy of Tenacity, Passion and Self Determination

Andrew & Rebecca standing at the peak of their Dorval & Terra Dorada ranch before planting.

After six years of research and scouting, Andrew and Rebecca Kerr acquired two rugged Madera foothill, open-range ranch sites and an estate winery; totaling 216 acres. Their vision was clear: to cultivate an area with unique terroir, one that was rich in minerals, decomposed granite, clay, and volcanic soil. This landscape, located at high elevations, shares similarities with the famed wine regions of Paso Robles, Mediterranean parts of Italy, Spain and various regions of France; offering a perfect balance of acidity, calcium, and PH levels—ideal for producing low-yielding high quality wine.

Through their commitment and vision, Andrew and Rebecca are determined to disrupt the Central Valley's reputation as a bulk wine region, transforming it into a region capable of producing wines that are not only locally grown but world-class and memorable.
