About DORVAL
Tenacious Visionaries and Pioneers
The name Dorval is rooted in heritage. It’s where our story began—in Dorval, Montréal, where our family first established its agricultural legacy, which continues today through Domaine La France, still family-owned and operated. That sense of heritage informs everything we do: from the way we grow, craft, and share our wines to our direct-to-consumer, membership-focused approach.
Dorval is not an event venue—it’s a working winery. A place for those who believe that wine is more than a drink—it’s a connection to the land, a reflection of time and place, and an invitation to slow down and listen.
We are not an event hall with barrels in the background. We are farmers, winemakers, and stewards of the land—committed to regenerative expressive, site-driven wines from California’s most compelling terroirs.
Our wine membership offers access to carefully designed spaces and locations that celebrate the craft—places where you can engage, savor, and connect. Whether you’re tasting against vineyard vistas or exploring the depth of your palate, Dorval invites you to be part of a community that values authenticity, craft, and the quiet power of place. Every bottle we make speaks with the voice of the land—and with the heritage we carry forward.
Please join our winery membership to experience all we have to offer.

A Legacy of Tenacity, Passion and Self Determination
Andrew & Rebecca standing at the peak of their Dorval & Terra Dorada ranch before planting.
After six years of research and scouting, Andrew and Rebecca Kerr acquired two rugged Madera foothill, open-range ranch sites and an estate winery; totaling 216 acres. Their vision was clear: to cultivate an area with unique terroir, one that was rich in minerals, decomposed granite, clay, and volcanic soil. This landscape, located at high elevations, shares similarities with the famed wine regions of Paso Robles, Mediterranean parts of Italy, Spain and various regions of France; offering a perfect balance of acidity, calcium, and PH levels—ideal for producing low-yielding high quality wine.
Through their commitment and vision, Andrew and Rebecca are determined to disrupt the Central Valley's reputation as a bulk wine region, transforming it into a region capable of producing wines that are not only locally grown but world-class and memorable.

We didn’t inherit vineyards, a winery or land. We purchased our own and built it from the ground up—quietly, obsessively, and with purpose. Few expected us to venture into winemaking, let alone to do it alone. While many dismissed the Central California foothills as too extreme for world-class wine—too hot, too wild—We saw something others didn’t: elevation, granite mountains, mono-winds and four distinct soil types that whispered potential. Frankly, its wine making perfection.
Our vineyard elevations range from 650 to 1,400 feet in elevation, now collectively referred to as Dorval Estate Winery and Terra Dorada Vineyards.
Rebecca and I remember the exact moment we stood on this land for the first time. The air was still, the Sierra Nevada mountains cut sharp against the sky, and the entire Central Valley stretched endlessly below. I knew then that this was more than a vineyard site—it was the beginning of something magical and a place we call home.
Rather than follow local convention, we took a diversified approach and planted what hadn’t been done here: a high-density, high-clonal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot, Tannat and Syrah along with Tempranillo, Petit Sirah and Charbono, each block designed to express the soil beneath it with purity and power.
Spanning across three distinct locations within a 10 mile radius of each other and all within the Raymond Quadrangle. (One of the most diverse Geological locations in California.)
Rooted in regenerative farming and driven by a singular focus: crafting wines of depth, identity, and place. This is art, this is our passion.
Dorval Vineyards is for serious wine enthusiasts and consumers who appreciate organic regenerative farming and artistic small lot wines crafted by hand.
— Andrew Kerr Founder, Winegrower and Winemaker Dorval Vineyards

Dorval Vineyards was born from a simple idea: that world-class wine can come from places no one expects. Nestled in the high foothills of eastern Madera County, our estate sits on 216 acres of rugged, expressive terrain in what geologists call the Raymond Quadrangle — one of California’s most geologically diverse winegrowing areas. The cool part is we are only 25 minutes North of Fresno, CA the 5th largest city in CA.
When we first set foot on this land, we were captivated. Looking out over the entire Central Valley, with the Sierra Nevada mountains rising behind us, we knew there was something special here — something wild, raw, and full of promise.
What makes Dorval and Terra Dorada truly unique is our soil. Across our three vineyard sites, we farm four distinct soil types:
-
Decomposed granite loam, which brings finesse and minerality
-
Fractured granite, ideal for deep-rooting vines
-
Red clay and volcanic earth, rich in structure and character
-
And compacted valley soils, challenging but expressive
These soils guide every decision we make — from how we plant, to what we plant. We've chosen Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and other Bordeaux clones, grown in high-density blocks to challenge the vines and let the land shine through. We’re not a corporate winery. We’re not an event venue with wine on the side. Dorval is a working estate. Family-owned, organically farmed, and rooted in regenerative principles. We do this because we love it — and because we believe wine should reflect where it comes from, not just how it’s made.
Every bottle of Dorval is a story — of soil, of season, of something real. Come taste what we’ve uncovered.
