Regenerative Organic Farming is a unique philosophy that is superior to any other methods used. It is sustainable, it is ecosystem friendly and environmentally sound.

Now becoming a buzzword in the wine world in recent years there is still some confusion about what practices set the philosophy apart from just organic inputs or sustainability. Regenerative aims to embrace a harmonious relationship between the ecosystems beneath our feet and what we are doing above ground.

The best of both is top of mind for DORVAL and the wine’s it produces are substantially better quality than non regenerative wines, in our opinion. We literally are giving our vineyard ranches all the love and care as if the world depends on it. DORVAL is actively working towards achieving the coveted certification earned by the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA).

More Work and Less Mechanical, More Organic Matter and Less Chemical Inputs

With regenerative organic agriculture, DORVCAL strives to rehabilitate soil, respect animal welfare, and improve the lives of farmers. We can sequester carbon, build healthier communities, and reap more nutritious and abundant yields.

Like the ROA says, What we do to the soil, we do to ourselves

The soil our vines live on are truly the bedrock to our wine grape food system and to us it is the core to all decisions we make. Our founder, Andrew Kerr is doing his best to bring out the extraordinary diversity of microorganisms in the soil.

Instead of depleting our soils with harsh weed control applications or harsh pesticides we rely on organic compounds like organic steer manure, lady bugs, cover crops and livestock. Doing so helps our ground retain nitrogen and organic matter which is normally depleted following harvest in non regenerative farms.
